Delicious Deep Dish Apple Pie

INGREDIENTS

1 package (15 ounce) refrigerated pie crust
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tbsp flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 medium apples
2 tablespoons butter
(butter tastes best, but if you need to swap out for margarine, go ahead & do it)

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Remove crust from package. Place in a deep dish baker taking care not to stretch the dough (or tearing. In a bowl, combine the next 6 ingredients. Peel, core and slice apples. Gently toss apple slices with sugar mixture. Turn into prepared pie crust.

Dot with small pieces of butter. Place on top of fruit, seal and flute edges.
Use tiny cookie cutter to cut shape in center of the pie crust. Cut slits in several places. Bake for 10 minutes @ 350 degrees F. Increase temperature to 450 degrees F & bake for an additional 40 minutes or until bubbly and apples are tender.

Cover edges of pie crust with foil or a pie crust shield.

Serve warm. Great with ice cream.
I've never had it with a slice of cheddar cheese, have you?

This pie was so delicious! I really can't see myself ever buying another store bought apple pie again! It was so easy to prepare! I really enjoyed it!
